CASE STUDY: HEATHROW EXPRESS

Heathrow Express are the fast service between Central London and Heathrow Airport. 

They promise exemplary service to their customers - and wanted to welcome new colleagues on board in a way they best set them up to be able to deliver that. Every time.

 

They wanted something different, something engaging and an experience that gave new starters everything they needed to be successful in their new role - whatever that role might be. 

 

We wanted to capture the romance and the rich heritage of the railway and the airport - and so "From Plane to Paddington' was born.

We started by capturing everything that make the Heathrow Express experience unique and cherished by it's regular customers. We looked at speed, we checked out the competition and dived into Heathrow's ambition to increase the number of passengers arriving by rail rather than car. We researched the history and spoke customers and colleagues about what Heathrow Express meant to them. 

After the Discovery stage was complete, we proposed sharing that information in a gamified induction experience the brought every aspect of the journey from the aircraft into Central London to life. 

With in the moment announcements, QR code access to digital activities, immersive experiences in the training room and the added element of competition, we designed a full day one experience that gave new colleagues everything they needed to be able to answer 'what's great about working here?' if their family asked them when they got home. 

Our creative design team captured the romance of the railway with an appealing art deco themed identity for the programme, celebrating the rich heritage and the exciting future for the brand and the team. ​

The workshop was going to be delivered by key members of the training and assessment team, so a full-scale Train The Facilitator programme was also delivered alongside the onboarding experience to upskill the team and build confidence in the new style of training. 

The result? Everyone at Heathrow Express adores their new experience - and at every level of the organisation it welcomes you in to a brand famous for putting its customers first.
